You know I had to post today. I mean I won’t get to send out another Leap Day post until 2012.
I’ve shelved my revision/re-write work on my NaNo novel for the time being, however, I am still writing. Besides the ongoing job hunt, interview, negotiation process, I have been writing web content for a new website and associated blog.
I am in the process of researching and writing 30 pages of search engine optimized and linked content for the website and regular updates to the blog and cross-linking it with the site. It’s this current jobless situation and the post I made about Jon Morrow’s – Taking Action that were the deciding factors to go this route.
I’m building a site and blog for a particular community of like-minded people. I am also going to provide useful and valuable content and monetize it. I’m working towards building an online business so that in 2-3 years from now I won’t have to rely on corporate America to decide what I am worth financially and what I am worth as a worker. I’m sick of giving that much control of my life to a corporate entity.
Once I get things up and running, I may or may not post what it’s about as it’s not really related to writing. And if I do post, I may end up shamelessly promoting it.

Okay, it’s been a while so I’ll get started…wait…I need a friggin’ cup of coffee…

…There, that’s much better.
My last entry was about taking action – which I have and is why I haven’t made entries to my blogs for a while. I have first and foremost been busy trying to find work as unemployment checks don’t go very far. Secondly, I completed the first draft of Makin’ a Killin’ not long after my last blog entry. I ended up with 85,619 words which translates to 396 pages.
I know I should have let is sit more than two weeks but I couldn’t help getting into the revision process. What a goddamn mess. I promised Dave Callan, a writer himself and my First Reader, that he’d get a look at my raw first draft, but I just can’t let something this shabby out of my hands just yet. Half way into the story, I changed some things about my main antagonist and did not realize the ripple effect that change had. If I let Dave read it now, he’d be off the rails wondering where the hell I was going with the story.
So, I have been busy doing a high-level revision/re-write before letting someone else’s eyes sees my story.
On top of that I have been putting the finishing touches on an outline for another thriller novel. As soon as I get done with this first revision, I’ll start on the new book. If I can wait that long…
